Sustainability
We're serious about our responsibility for
our planet's precious natural resources and it shows. From water
conservation, to reducing emissions, to partnering with
environmental organizations, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated
(CCBCC) continues to demonstrate leadership as an environmental
steward. We support those who live positively.
Water Conservation
We take great pride in operating some of the most
water-efficient plants in the world. In fact, our plants far exceed
industry standards for water conservation. We not only reduce water
use in our plants, but we also recycle wastewater from our
manufacturing processes while adhering to stringent quality
standards. Our Charlotte, NC, bottling plant has its own wastewater
treatment facility that allows us to discharge water that is as
clean as the water we purchase.
Leading an effort to promote the use of rain barrels, our
Nashville production facility provides empty concentrate drums to
the Cumberland River Compact (CRC). Each year, as part of education
classes focused on preserving water and natural resources in
southeastern rivers, more than 500 of these drums are converted
into rain barrels. Using rain barrels to collect water and then
using it to water plants, wash a car or wash windows is a great way
for individuals to save water, save money and help protect the
environment.
Protecting Wildlife Diversity
Since 2008, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated has partnered
with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to promote sustainable water
policies, including water reuse practices. The rivers and streams
in the Cumberland, Mobile and Tennessee River basins contain more
aquatic diversity than anyplace else in North America, and the
objective of our partnership is to protect and restore this
diversity.
Recycle & Win
In addition, we developed a
comprehensive Recycle & Win program that encourages consumers
in our local markets to recycle via partnerships with city and
county governments, local media and local retailers, such as Harris
Teeter. These partnerships have resulted in measurable recycling
rate increases throughout the region that we serve.
